Haircut

A few people (my mom, namely) wanted to see the haircut that S. did for me. So I took a photo.

I didn't curl my hair or anything like that, so ignore my haggard appearance. But I think S. did a good job considering we used dull scissors while I stood in our bathtub.

We've calculated that never having our hair done by a professional/salon/barber has saved us $1800 in the past five years. :)

Halloween May Be Over...

but I just finished some costuming! (And no, I did not pick the color or style of these lovely numbers!) :)

In August, I volunteered to help sew some of the local high school musical costumes. Given budget restrictions, it has taken a few months to get the supplies. I finally got the fabric from the person in charge and set down to make fourteen vests for the musical "White Christmas."
I dropped them off at the school today. The show opens one month from today, so we'll have to see if there's more sewing to be done. The director did not have much else in the costume room, so I hope there's not a last minute rush of sewing for me to do.

Harvest Hustle 5K

I'm not a morning person; most people know that about me, haha. After working all day Friday on the photos from Sheria and Brittany's shoot, I went to bed to wake up at 4:30am. I actually woke up before my husband for only the second or third day of our marriage! (S. is very much a morning person).
I woke up early to head to a 5k run in Baldwin Park, so I had a bit of a drive. I wasn't running but rather taking some photos for the race director, Chris.
Here are a few of my favorites. Also, I realized that I am super out-of-shape when I had to run to get a few shots. I took a shortcut through the race course, but these trained athletes still beat me!

Some people ran with their dogs, which was neat. There was also a kids' race for the little ones.

It was great to work and get home by noon! I then edited all the photos and put them online last night for all the race participants to see.

What else did I do yesterday? Why, thanks for asking...I (unsuccessfully) begged my husband to help me assembly-line sew the vests I am volunteering to make for a local high school musical. He didn't want to help after working a long day himself at the office, but who can blame him? I ended up finishing two in two hours. :) I only have 8 left to do, yay!

And Mr. PGH cut my hair. It looks 100X better. I was looking so raggedy yesterday and my hair was long, it wouldn't even straighten anymore. Now, it hits the collarbone. S. even put layers in while I was standing in the bathtub for him to cut it. I love it...my DH should go to beauty school if engineering doesn't work out.

I really enjoyed shooting this event and hope to do more in the future. It was a great challenge given the fast pace at the finish line!

Photo Shoot in Orlando

I did a photoshoot the last week of October and just finished all of the editing. Sheria and Brittany are two college roommates getting into print modeling. They were in need of some photographs, so I traveled to their house in Avalon Park and met up with them after their classes. Here are just a few of my favorites from the day.

I was a little concerned that there was a gator in this lake where I shot this close up, but it turned out to be nothing. :)

We had a ton of fun. I even got to meet their two adorable dogs. Chihuahuas are just so small and cute!
Hope you ladies love your shots!

Five Years Ago Today

Five years ago today, my husband and I went out on our first date. I still remember what I wore, where we went, and that I accidentally left my coat in his car at the end of the night.

And now we're married, living in a place where we don't need any kind of coats, he still has that car, and we're supposed to be going out tonight for a Halloween street festival if he gets home from work in time.

I knew from that first date that I would marry him. And I miss the fall weather in PA, because it always makes me think of the time of year when we first started dating!

Christmas Card Photo Shoot

I met Brandy and Kevin last weekend in Vero Beach for a family photo shoot to possibly use for Christmas cards and just to capture their moments as a couple. These newlyweds were enjoying a weekend getaway in Vero at a beautiful pet-friendly resort.

It was a bit windy and cool, and although the sun was very bright, I think we ended up with a lot of great shots.

Their dog Devin made me smile as well. She was so sweet.

It was great to meet you two. You photograph so well! And it is always nice to meet fellow newlyweds!

I can't wait to see which photo ends up on your holiday cards. :)

Family Photo Shoot

I've been building my portfolio again and gaining more experience through free photo shoots in the area. Last weekend, a nice local family expressed interest in some portraits, so off I went to Orlando.

This past weekend, S. and I headed up to Orlando and visited the Winter Park area. I had the pleasure of photographing Charlie and his parents on Saturday. I'd never been to Winter Park, so it was nice to see another area of town.

Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the day.

Charlie brought along some of his favorite toys, a train (fitting since we were near the train station) and some bouncy balls.

The day started off chilly, but quickly got sunny and warm. It was great to meet you three; your little boy is very adorable.
While I was shooting, S. bought some kettle corn from the farmer's market for us...delicious! :) We enjoyed it on the ride back to the coast.

Then I headed out for a promo job and S. went to work for awhile. My husband also cleaned the house

I had another family shoot on Sunday last weekend that I am in the process of editing, so check back in here soon!
